CRAIG WEIL, M.D.
From 1983 to 1984, Dr. Weil served as Chief Resident in Orthopaedics at the University of Alabama. During his residency, Dr. Weil was selected to speak at the Alabama Orthopaedic Society in 1983 and 1984, with papers discussing knee ligament and meniscal injuries, along with hand anatomy.
From 1984 to 1985, Dr. Weil was a Fellow in Hand Surgery at Tufts University and New England Baptist Hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts. There he was appointed clinical instructor of orthopaedics, participating in the teaching of residents.
Having completed the hand surgery fellowship in Boston, Dr. Weil moved to Atlanta and practiced hand and orthopaedic surgery for two years in West Cobb County before joining Dr. Hammesfahr in 1988.
He has had publications on wrist anatomy and surgical approaches, rheumatoid disease of the upper extremity, and shoulder surgery in both journals and textbooks. Dr. Weil has lectured and participated with both the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedics. Dr. Weil is a Clinical Instructor in Hand Surgery at Emory University and is also an instructor on carpal tunnel endoscopy. Dr. Weil is a member or fellow of: The American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Medical Association, Atlanta Orthopaedic Society, Cobb and Atlanta Medical Societies, Medical Association of Georgia, Nalebuff Hand Club, and the Southern Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Weil was board certified in Orthopaedics in 1987. He was also one of the first hand surgeons to receive the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery in 1989 given by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
